The mark of the beast is the sign of the Antichrist, and is mentioned in Revelation 13:15-18:
"The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name. This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. That number is 666."

*NOTE: I will speak to you in plain English without the “Proper Psych Terms,” beginning backwards by describing what the Mark may look like then briefly touching on the psychology that will influence people's desire to get it.
The Mark Of the Beast may resemble a staple that you cannot necessarily see without thorough inspection. This "staple" will create two dimples on the meat of your hand (the area between your thumb and pointer finger), maybe a fingernail apart. Contrary to common understanding, it will most likely not ONLY be distributed in a line at a designated municipal building, but rather by a friend, companion or person of interest within your own life as the fastest way to spread information is by “word of mouth.” So this too will be the way of transmitting news of the mark. To further perpetuate the population with it, everyone already marked will possess the tool on their person to readily mark you at a moment's notice.
The psychology behind this is much like that of a Siren in Greek Mythology (see below for details of this) in that many will be lured by means of favoritism or sex, especially since 'sex sells.' Those with the mark will seductively refer to you as "honey, sweetie, baby" to gain a sense of familiarity, and might even subtly grab your hand with the tool in theirs to mark you while you're distracted by their blatant sex appeal and are at the point of consenting to almost anything just to feel their touch…HOWEVER, you can tell her/him it has to be voluntary and therefore, you CANNOT be forced into it. Maintain your clarity at ALL TIMES, remind yourself that it is all a ruse to gain compliance, and most importantly, pray for the strength to say "no" to people whom you would normally bend over backwards to impress.
Many will change allegiance when you see what is to come but keep in mind that all of us will be tested; GOD will only accept those of us who have been humbled and who will appreciate the splendors of Heaven. To those that believe you are righteous, ask yourselves: are you as righteous as Job (see below for summary of this man in the Bible)? And if you are, did GOD not test Job as well, despite his constant obedience?

(1) "In Greek mythology, the Sirens were dangerous yet beautiful creatures, portrayed as femme fatales who lured nearby sailors with their enchanting music and voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island. Roman poets placed them on some small islands called Sirenum scopuli. In some later, rationalised traditions, the literal geography of the "flowery" island of Anthemoessa, or Anthemusa,[1] is fixed: sometimes on Cape Pelorum and at others in the islands known as the Sirenuse, near Paestum, or in Capreae.[2] All such locations were surrounded by cliffs and rocks."
(2) The Book of Job: "Job is considered a prophet in the Abrahamic Religions: Islam, Christianity and Judaism. In rabbinical literature Iyov (אִיּוֹב), he is called one of the prophets of the Gentiles. Job is presented as a good and prosperous family man who is beset with horrendous disasters that take away all that he holds dear, including his offspring, his health, and his property. He struggles to understand his situation and begins a search for the answers to his difficulties. God rewards Job's obedience during his travails and restores his health and doubles his original riches.
